When I get completely fed up with everyone and everything Bruges, Belgium is where I want to go to live my remaining years in peace. That time is getting close. The President of our faculty union weighed in on my mass e-mail response (see below post), with none other than an e-mail. Ya gotta love it. Here is his response and then my response, after I first called him to try and have a man-to-man chat.
Keith,
The issues being discussed are central to our lives as faculty members at Franklin Pierce. I'm sorry to see that you're very first public comment after 3 years here is a loud "leave me out of it." If you have nothing better to say, just delete the emails without reading them, rather than give proof to the theory that you have no investment in being here.
Rich,
I just left you a voicemail thinking we would have an adult conversation about this however there was no answer. I take complete exception to your statement "...give proof to the theory that you have no investment in being here." I urge you to speak to any number of faculty members that you want to and ask them what they think about my commitment to this institution. I believe the overwhelming response you will get could be summed up with the word "dedicated." I also challenge you to find faculty members that spend more time in their office, more time serving as advisors to student clubs/organizations, or more time attending as many of the voluntary workshops and meetings regarding institution issues than me. Finally, and most importantly, I urge you to ask our students about my lack of investment in this institution and their education. I believe they would have a different opinion.
