Wrestling

The curtains officially closed on the 2010-11 wrestling season last night at the New Haven (Connecticut) City-Wide Field House. Two of my wrestlers qualified to compete in the All New England tournament which was comprised of top wrestlers from New Hampshire, Vermont, Massachusetts, Maine, Rhode Island, & Connecticut. In the 10 year history of the program we have only had one wrestler finish in the top 6 at the tournament. Last night we had two. Our 140 pounder finished 6th after being disqualified in his final match against the Vermont state champion from Mount Anthony for an illegal slam, and our 152 pounder finished 5th after getting a last second take down in his final match to avenge a loss to a tough Norwich, CT kid from earlier in the tournament. Finishing top 6 at this tournament earns both wrestlers "All New England" distinction. Check out a recent article that the Goffstown News did about the team.
